The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam,
Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, on Monday asked Muslims in the country to
avoid congregational prayers during the coming Ramadan fast.
He asked the faithful to pray at homes during the period.
The Sultan, who spoke through the Secretary General of the JNI, Dr
Khalid Abubakar-Aliyu, in a statement in Kaduna on Monday, also advised
Muslims against going for this year’s lesser Hajj in the Holy land
because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement read, “It should be made known that all Salawatun-nawafil
(optional and non-obligatory prayers), including Taraweeh, are
originally preferred to be observed at home, even though it is Mustahabb
(desirable) to observe it in congregation.

Nigeria records 86 new coronavirus cases, total now 627
Nigeria has recorded 86 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 627.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known via its Twitter handle on Sunday.
It also said the total number of fatalities recorded from the virus in Nigeria has increased to 21.
NCDC tweeted, “Eighty-six new cases of #COVID19 have been reported: 70 in Lagos, seven in FCT, three in Katsina, three in Akwa Ibom, one in Jigawa, one in Bauchi and one in Borno.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known via its Twitter handle on Sunday.

Nigeria records 49 new COVID-19 cases, total infections now 542
Nigeria on Saturday recorded 49 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total infections to 542, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
In a tweet via its official handle, the NCDC said 23 cases were identified in Lagos, 12 in the FCT, 10 in Kano, two in Ogun and one each in Oyo and Ekiti.

NCDC announces 11 fresh Coronavirus cases, total now 373
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has announced another 11 fresh cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, with all cases detected in Lagos.
This takes the national Coronavirus toll to 373, with Lagos having 214 cases.
The Centre had earlier announced new 19 Coronavirus cases in Nigeria, with 14 in Lagos, but it went back to release another figure at 11.00pm.
This means that Lagos has recorded 25 fresh Coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest figures to be recorded by the State in one day.
This takes the national Coronavirus toll to 373, with Lagos having 214 cases.

COVID-19 cases rise to 362 as 19 more test positive
Nineteen new COVID-19 cases were have been announced tonight by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Of the positive cases, fourteen were recorded in Lagos, two in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), one in Kano, one in Niger, one in Akwa Ibom, One in Edo.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 362.
So far, 99 patients have been discharged and seven deaths recorded.

Sanwo-Olu reacts to Buhari’s extension of lockdown in Lagos
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday said extending the lockdown in Lagos by another 14 days by President Muhammadu Buhari was a tough decision the government had to take in a bid to defeat Coronavirus.
Buhari had on Monday announced an extension of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja in a bid to effectively fight Coronavirus.
According to Buhari, in view of rising cases of Coronavirus cases in the country, it had become necessary to extend the current restriction of movement in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the FCT for another 14 days effective from 11:59 pm on Monday, 13th of April, 2020.

Again, six Coronavirus patients recover in Lagos, discharged
Another six Coronavirus patients have been discharged in Lagos after recovering and tested negative twice for the virus.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on Monday, saying that the six people discharged included five male and one female.
According to Sanwo-Olu, “Good people of Lagos, I have more great news from our isolation facilities. Today, 6 more persons; 1 female and 5 males have been discharged to join society.
“The patients; all from the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, have fully recovered and tested negative twice consecutively to COVID-19.
